“I wanted to take a photograph that was more interesting and intriguing than the standard shot with the winner holding their Oscar”, says Terry O’Neill. ‘I asked Faye to come down to the pool at first light the morning after the Oscar ceremony. Despite not having any sleep and exhausted, she came down to the pool and we completed the shoot with 12 photos taken in 10 minutes so Faye could get back to bed. I had to choose one image, but frankly anyone one of them would have become the iconic ‘morning after the Oscars’ image that 40 years later, magazine editors attempt to replicate with today’s stars.
